Schwerpunkt: Orte des Alters und der Pflege – Hospitäler, Heime und Krankenhäuser
The aim of this project is to create a broad platform for researchers, who are interested in the analysis of the origin and spread of the order in Central Europe, the economic safeguarding of the convent’s hospitals, the cultural-historical contributions and the position of the order in the social networks of modern society. In addition, there will be an examination of the canonical aspects, the correlation of the general curia in Rome to the provincial leadership, the internal development of the province, the libraries of the Brothers Hospitallers, the extensive collections of music and the reconstruction of the province as a result of the reforms of Maria Theresia and Joseph II. Furthermore, the comprehensive medical records will be analyzed and evaluated. The group currently consists of 17 researchers from eight countries.
