Zeitschrift für Klassische Philologie, Patristik und lateinische Tradition
In an anonymous byzantine compilation of treatises that is best preserved in the so called Anonymus Treu (Par. suppl. gr. 607A) there is a section containing allegorical interpretations of antique statues of gods. We give a new edition of the text and a stemma, and we discuss possible sources. The focus is set on Porphyry’s On statues and John Lydus’s On the Months as these two works have passages overlapping with the byzantine compilation.
