Postmoderne und Pluralismus. Architektur der 1980er Jahre in Österreich
The documentation of Postmodernist buildings and other architectural movements from the 1980s and 1990s is a key area of inventorying in Germany. Promptly placing these structures under heritage protection is a matter of urgency; even young buildings are already threatened by demolition, and public opinion on such sites is often divided. Beyond traditional structures, several other categories must be considered: urban planning and land-scaping, participatory and ecological construction, various other contemporary architectural forms. To establish a profound professional framework for evaluation, increased engagement through scientific research is essential. Furthermore, “swarm intelligence” supports heritage assessment—specifically the exchange between heritage authorities and the inclusion of internet platforms and networks. When presented to the public, young monu-ments should be communicated in a way that is both scientifically sound and high-profile, utilizing low-threshold programs to reach the general population.
